The Biggest Loser Interviewby Pattye Grippo

This is an interview with Megan Stone on March 28, 2012 about the show The Biggest Loser.

Megan Stone

Question:
Thinking back to when you first arrived on the show, how different were your expectations from what the reality was?

Megan Stone:
I would say that my expectations were very different. I didn't realize that the ranch was going to be as difficult as it was, so yes.

Question:
What's the most difficult thing about going home after being on the show?

Megan Stone:
The most difficult thing would be getting back into a routine. While we were on the ranch everything was kind of very ritualistic; very routine. And so coming home I was kind of off-track and on my own. So I had to immediately set up a schedule and a kind of routine to just try and get back to what I know.

Question:
Everybody loves a good engagement story, so I was hoping that you could tell us how Michael proposed to you, and if it was something that you were expecting or if it caught you completely by surprise?

Megan Stone:
It was completely by surprise. Michael is a big romantic anyway, so I mean he was doing sweet little romantic things to me all day long. And I woke up with a dozen roses on my pillow and little love notes everywhere, and he's to die for. I love him.

And it was at the end of the day and we just got done working out and we were kind of getting ready to take our showers and go to bed and he said, ???Okay Megan, I have one more surprise for you.??? And he told me to close my eyes so I did. And he went into the other room and when he came back he was down on one knee and he asked me to marry him. And I was like are you serious? Is this a joke, because this is awesome? He was like no, I'm serious. And so I said yes.

Question:
Contestants on the show have a chance to get to know the real Conda in a way that the viewers never probably will. Can you talk about your decision to ask her to be in your wedding party? What made you decide to ask her?

Megan Stone:
I'm actually very, very close with Conda. We were friends from the beginning and she is the sweetest person ever and I just love her to death. And her and I were basically two peas in a pod on the ranch and we went through hardships together. We helped each other build each other up. So I mean she is a great friend and I'm honored to have her in my bridal party.

Question:
She said yes?

Megan Stone:
Yes.

Question:
What stages are you in for the wedding planning? We got to see you trying on the wedding dresses, but what else have you got planned?

Megan Stone:
As far as planning, I'm trying to focus mainly on my health and getting ready for finale, but once finale is over it's going to be gung ho.

Question:
Is there anything that for sure you know you want or certain colors or anything like that? Do you know already just in your head like that would be perfect?

Megan Stone:
Definitely fall colors because it's going to be a September wedding.

Question:
Could you tell me about what you were feeling the first time that you really got to ride a horse again once you got home?

Megan Stone:
The first time that I really got to ride my horse I was in tears. It was so much fun and it was so much easier than I ever remember being I guess because I'm so fit now and I'm able to do so much more.

Question:
Can you share your thoughts and disappointment on being sent home rather than it being Mark who lost no weight, which is the point of the show?

Megan Stone:
All I can say is I am completely bummed that I got sent home, but at that point if every single vote was based on how you did that week then there was a week that I only lost two pounds. I would say it was a judgment overall performance, not just a weigh-in. Because Mark only lost two pounds it doesn't mean exactly that he should be sent home, although I would rather him than me.

Question:
It's not leaning towards a popularity contest rather than a reward for hard work?

Megan Stone:
Right.

Question:
Can you compare your personal weight battle to your self image battle? And what's your long-term plan for both?

Megan Stone:
My battle for weight loss is definitely an uphill battle; that's for sure, but I'm successful at it. And I'm really just keeping my head in the game and keeping my eye on the prize, and what I want out of all of this. And with those battles kind of go hand-in-hand because with my self image, the more weight that I lose and the better that I feel and the more healthy I am, the more self confidence I have and the better I feel about myself as a person.

Question:
One won't succeed without the other?

Megan Stone:
Exactly.

Question:
What is it that everyone at the ranch seems to have one view of Conda and the rest of the universe has another view of Conda? Why is it apparently that we all see her so differently than you guys see her?

Megan Stone:
Conda, I don't know what we see that everybody doesn't. I feel like American hasn't really given Conda a fair chance. And everybody is on this journey and everybody has a different approach to this journey, but it's not easy. So I would say that American shouldn't be so judgmental. It's a very, very hard process. And what I see in Conda is a very caring person. She's a great mother, and she's a great motivator, and she's a great friend. I mean and she's so sweet. I have nothing negative to say about her. She just speaks her mind and I mean that's it.

Question:
And can you tell us about what an average day looks like for you in terms of food and working out?

Megan Stone:
An average day for me; I wake up at about 7:00 or eight o'clock in the morning and I go and run a 5K out in my neighborhood. And then I eat breakfast and start working on chores; working with horses, trying to stay busy and constantly stay moving all day long. And I eat constantly, lots of little healthy meals. And then after dinner I go and meet with a personal trainer.

Question:
Do you think that you're competing for the at-home prize?

Megan Stone:
Oh, absolutely.

Question:
Who do you think is going to win? Who will be the last person standing?

Megan Stone:
That I don't know, it's anybody's guess. But hopefully I'm happy for whoever gets it.

Question:
Did you think you'd be safe because you worked so hard? Did you ever think you'd be below the yellow line this week?

Megan Stone:
There's always that thought that runs through my head that I could possibly fall below the yellow line. I mean really it's anybody's game. And you don't know, regardless of how hard you work, if you over trained, if you under trained there's always a possibility. So never once did I think I was safe.

Question:
What's the best thing about having lost the weight?

Megan Stone:
The best thing about having lost all the weight is the fact that I can do so many things I never thought I was going to be able to do. I mean I wake up and run a 5K every single morning and that's not something that I ever, ever would have dreamed of doing before The Biggest Loser.

Question:Megan Stone:
We're still really early in the process of planning for the wedding just because I'm really focused on getting healthy and losing the weight that I want to lose before finale. So after finale hits then it will be completely gung ho for the wedding planning. But as for right now, it's still really lightly in the works.

Question:
Now that you are so healthy and focused so on that, do you think that will affect like the menu you have at your wedding or anything like that?

Megan Stone:
Absolutely. I hope everybody that attends my wedding is ready to eat healthy because there's not going to be anything unhealthy there except for maybe the cake. But I'm going to try to find a healthy cake alternative.

Question:
Do you have any idea where that might happen?

Megan Stone:
I know that I'll get married in a church, but as far as the reception and anything, I don't know yet.
